Continuing my own professional development

This week sees me continuing my own professional development along with serving my physical, emotional, mental and spiritual overall wellness.

I am participating on an eight-day yoga and dancing Retreat brought together in the beautiful practice of Shakti Dancing delivered by its gifted and talented creator Sara Avtar

Lindsay Hamberg has been responsible for  bringing the 21 Day Shakti Dancing Teacher Training  Programme, and Sara Avtar to the UK from Italy. Lindsay having done her own training more than a year ago, felt and saw the benefits and wanted to be able to train teachers in the practice to share it more widely with others. She is managing and co-ordinating the Programme along with her Team.

Lindsay has kindly written a few words about my work and relationship with her.   We go way back as we both picked up the gauntlet many years ago for spreading wellness approaches to people and in workplaces.   She was very instrumental in my agreeing to take part in the Programme as she could see it was a good fit for me personally and in the work I do:

“Gill and I go back quite a few years and we share a passion for wanting people to have their best  and most healthy lives. We both did our Kundalini Yoga Teacher training around the same  time, with different teachers with our paths always crossing.  I turned to Gill when I wanted to add Reiki healing methods to my skill set and wanted trusted support.  Gill trained and coached me.  I really like the fact that now it’s my turn to help coach and train Gill, and that she trusted me enough to know that Shakti Dance Training would benefit her clients and her too, and committed to it so readily”.

I aspire to bring these new techniques into women’s development programmes and events, running it alongside life and personal development coach / mentoring, as in somatic coaching.

So where is it?

The Retreat is being delivered at a lovely recently refurbished premises open for events, holidays and weddings at Brinkburn, Morpeth where we have lovely cottages as living space, and a converted Barn for our yoga / dance activities.

We are surrounded by woodland, fields, the River Coquet with a Priory and Manor House close by.

Food is always a good idea!

Paula Marie our very experienced Retreat Chef, with her business lovingly caters for our refreshment needs with her gorgeous and creative healthy food options and fresh juices, to nurture us as we go through what is a very physical practice.  We celebrated Valentines Day together and one our participants Molly shared with us a song she had just written and was refining to share with her music band. This was followed by our Teacher Sara also a gifted musician.
